About Acadia

At Acadia Federal Credit Union, our mission is simple: creating exceptional experiences to enrich your life. Since 1963, we have been a member-owned financial institution committed to delivering innovative solutions, personalized service, and dedicated support to the communities we serve in Aroostook, Hancock, Penobscot, Piscataquis, and Washington counties. We actively invest in our communities and foster lasting relationships built on trust and service.

While credit unions are built on the philosophy of People Helping People, we take it a step further by focusing on meaningful connections and financial guidance that truly make a difference. Whether you’re saving for the future, buying a home, or growing a business, we’re here to support you every step of the way.

Proudly recognized as one of the Best Places to Work in Maine, we stand by our tagline: “Together, we will!” It reflects our commitment to teamwork, positivity, and service — because at Acadia FCU, your success is our mission.

Our Values

With eight—soon-to-be nine—branches throughout Fort Kent, Madawaska, St. Francis, St. Agatha, Ashland, and Bangor, we’re built on a foundation of what we call our Holy Trinity: Staff, Members, and Community. Acadia has grown over the years, but we’re still committed to enriching our members’ lives with the same outstanding member service. We also strive to be an employer of choice, so earning the designation as one of the Best Places to Work in Maine in 2022, 2023, and 2024 is something we are incredibly proud of!

Our Mission

Today, we have eight branch locations and a ninth in the works, over 17,000 members, and assets totaling over $371 million. Because we’ve grown from small, member-focused credit unions, we continue to stay true to our roots of service. Our mission today focuses on the rich traditions of our local communities and simply states: Creating exceptional experiences to enrich your life.

During my illness and loss of income, Acadia was instrumental in helping us keep our home. They put us on a budget and worked to help us maintain it. We were treated with dignity and respect, and I will never forget how Acadia saw us through this difficult time.
